             abstract = "The objective of this paper is to show the methodology used to 
                         obtain the base data for modeling of the biogeochemical activities 
                         in the Tapaj{\'o}s National Forest, Par{\'a} State, Brazil. The 
                         base data is being obtained from two main sources: the field work 
                         done on November 1999 and the digital processing of images from 
                         different sensors (TM/Landsat, ETM+ and Ikonos)that is being 
                         developing in the present moment. This image processing will 
                         generate NDVI as well as the soil, vegetation and shadow fraction 
                         images. The resulted data is part of the key parameters that will 
                         be used as input by the SPA model.",
